James Edmonds

James Allen "Smiley" Edmonds, 33, of Benton, Arkansas passed away September 16, 2017. He was born October 30, 1983 in Little Rock, Arkansas.
James proudly served in the United States Army and served two tours during the Iraq Campaign, Operation Enduring Freedom. He was highly decorated with many awards including National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, and the Driver and Mechanic Badge with Driver-Wheeled Vehicles.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Doris Edmonds, Recy Fuqua, Johnny Hunnicutt, and James Balding.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Hanna Klara Thurfjell; son, Gunner Wayne Edmonds of Benton, Arkansas; mother, Teresa Caskey and her husband John of Waldo, Arkansas; father, Raymond Balding of Benton, Arkansas; two brothers, Brandon Balding and girlfriend Marlie Kling of Benton, Arkansas and Cameron M. Caskey; maternal grandmother, Geraldine "Jeri" Rollans of Benton, Arkansas; maternal grandfather, James R. Edmonds, Sr. of Mabelvale, Arkansas; grandmother, Bonnie Hunnicutt of Benton, Arkansas; grandmother, Alice Balding of Benton, Arkansas; step-brother, John Paul Caskey; step-sister, Kaitlyn Srebalus; special uncle, Bobby Edmonds of Alexander, Arkansas; uncle, Rodney Balding; aunt, Kim Chilton and husband Joey; great aunt, Dianne Rollans; and a host of family members and friends who love James and will miss him always.
Reception visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday, September 20, at Smith-Benton Funeral Home, 322 N. Market St., Benton. Funeral service, officiated by Rev. Kim Hammer, held at 9:00 AM, Friday, September 22, at Smith-Benton Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock assisted by Ben Brown, Alex Brooks, Kyle Henson, Damien Grandberry. Brian Williams, David Nelson, Bryan Casey, and DJ Comet assisting as pallbearers.
