James served his country with honor and distinction as a proud member of the United States Army. His time in the military instilled in him a sense of duty and discipline that would guide him throughout his life. After his military service, James began his career as a pipefitter at Alcoa, where he dedicated many years of hard work and expertise.

He was an active member of the Bauxite Ole' Timers and the American Legion, organizations that allowed him to forge strong bonds with people who shared similar experiences and values. Additionally, James was a dedicated member of Northside Church of Christ. Going to church with his family brought him great joy and spiritual fulfillment.
One of James' favorite pastimes was going to deer camp. Although he did not go to hunt, he relished the opportunity to socialize with other members around the campfire.
James‘ passions in life was gardening. He spent countless hours tending to his garden, cultivating a bountiful harvest year after year. The produce he lovingly grew fed not only his own family but also to countless friends, neighbors, and the elderly saints in his church.
