James Harvey Douglass, 93, of Douglassville Addition in Little Rock, passed away January 17, 2024. He was born August 15, 1930 in Little Rock to James “Bill” W. and Marie Douglass. James was a longtime florist and had worked at several florists around the area and eventually owned his own, Red Barn Flowers and Gifts. He loved to sing and was the choir director at Western Hills United Methodist Church, formerly known as Douglassville Methodist Church. James served 38 years in the Army National Guard where he was a member of the Arkansas Army 106th National Guard Band.
James is preceded in death by his loving wife whom he shared almost 68 years of life together, Myrna Clara Murphy Douglass; grandson, William Douglass Taylor; sister, Patsy Wayne Douglass; and his parents. James is survived by his daughters; Cindy Taylor (James Adkins) and Sandy Douglass; honorary daughter, Leota Holcomb; granddaughter, Alisha Marie Taylor; three great-grandchildren, London Green, Willow Green, and Samantha Taylor. He was known as “Papaw” to his grandchildren, “Pa D” to many, and affectionately known as “Carnival King” at Western Hill Elementary School.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 24 beginning at 9:00 a.m., followed by the service at 10:00 a.m. at Western Hills United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Corey Read. Interment with military honors will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.
