James "Don" Collins, age 71, of Norman, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2012, surrounded by his family. He was born on August 18, 1940, at Russellville, the son of Ernest Collins and Laudra Curtis Collins. On June 22, 1968, he was married to Mary Johnston. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Bill Collins, Charles Collins, Loyd Collins, John Collins and Richard Larry Collins; and one sister, Cathy Wood. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Vietnam and was Assembly of God in his faith. He was a loving husband, father and Pa-Pa, always being totally devoted to his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Mary Collins of Norman; six daughters and four sons-in-law, Connie and Charles Rose of Van Buren, Terri and Mark Evans, Tammy and Robert Darden, Candy Collins and Stephanie McBryde, all of Norman and Christie and Kaylon Burrow of Bismarck; eighteen grandchildren, Ashley Collins, Courtney Davis, Kristen Davis, Kaiden Evans, Justin Evans, Penn Darden, Deborah Darden, Ally Darden, James Whisenhunt, Tiffany Whisenhunt, Dylan McBryde, Halei McBryde, Lexi McBryde, Austin Burrow, Cody Burrow, Kaitlyn Burrow, Heather Rose and Ashley Rose; one great-grandson, Braydon Collins; one great-granddaughter, Paige Darden; three sisters, Bobbie Tipton of Stockton, California, Pat White and Jean Findley Jones, both of Russellville; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 25, 2012, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Rev. James Findley and Rev. Randy Findley officiating. Visitation will be held Friday evening, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment with military honors will be in the Black Springs Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home. Glenwood. Pallbearers will be his nephews, Kenny Collins, Chris Collins, Danny Findley, Gulen Collins, Lynn Collins and John Allen White. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of John McClellan Veterans Hospital, the nurses and staff of Arkansas Hospice, the nurses of 4 West at St. Joseph's Mercy Health Center, Dr. Matthew Osborn, Dr. Jeffrey Bordelon and Dr. Martin Koehn.
