James Martin "Jim" Dillon, 83, passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2008. He was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on October 31, 1924 to Leo and Effie Mae (Turner) Dillon, the youngest of three sons. He was Catholic and attended Catholic High School in Little Rock. He and his brothers joined the Army to fight in WWII, and following the war, they all joined the Little Rock Fire Department, rising through the ranks with the Department, where Jim retired as Captain.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Norma; daughter, Kathy Rogers and brothers, Michael and Joseph Patrick Dillon. Jim is survived by three daughters, Jenny Alpe, Patricia Taylor and Deborah Patton, all of Bryant; son, James Timothy Dillon (Tess) of Little Rock; eight grandchildren, Cindy Gimm (Dean), Rebecca Wallace (Chris), Shannon Reed (Jason), Christy Davis (Elbert), Kevin Dillon (Shannon), Norma "Ned" Duffy (special friend, Jeremy Burris), Tim Dillon (Jana) and Catherine Moody; and nineteen great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 2, from 2-4 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), Little Rock. Graveside services are private. Memorials may be made to the Arkansas Firefighters' Memorial, Inc., P. O. Box 56470, Little Rock, AR 72215.
