James Roderick “Rod” Chisholm, 80, passed from this life on Saturday, January 28, 2023, while at home with his loving family.  Rod was known for his warmth, his kindness and his loving, outgoing personality.  He loved the Lord and let the love of God show through him.

Rod was born the 4th of 4 boys to Clarence C. and Evie E. (Smith) Chisholm in the Macedonia community near Magnolia, Arkansas.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two of his brothers, Hermon and Waymon Chisholm of Magnolia, Arkansas.

Rod is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda (Walters) Chisholm and the other great loves of his life, his three daughters, Kristi (Steve) Ramirez of New Palestine, Indiana, Karen (Jeremy) Kauffman of Cartersville, Virginia, and Kelly (Will) Gray of Sheridan, Indiana.  He is also the proud grandfather of five:  Dylan Ramirez currently serving in the Marine Corps, Kaylee and Ashlee Kauffman and twin grandsons, Liam and Adam Gray.  He is also survived by one brother, William R. “Buddy” Chisholm of Ft. Worth, Texas and a brother-in-law, Don Walters.  Two of his nephews, Steve and Rodney Chisholm are also ministers.  His other nephews include Chance Leamons and Keith, Greg and Jason Walters; his nieces are Angelia Chisholm, Sarah Daniel and Laura Lamb. All his nieces and nephews held special places in his heart.

Rod graduated high school in Magnolia, Arkansas.  He attended two years at Southern Arkansas University before enrolling in and graduating from the White’s Ferry Road School of Biblical Studies in West Monroe, Louisiana.  Leading people to Christ was Rod’s primary goal in life.  He served for over 30 years at various Churches of Christ in Arkansas, Louisiana, Virginia, Ohio and Indiana. Light-heartedness, fun and laughter followed him wherever he went.

After Rod and Linda moved to the Pittsburgh area in 2001, he worked for almost ten years as a TSA screener in The Pittsburgh International Airport and later in the Indianapolis International Airport, where he made many more friends.
