James Cantrell

James L. Cantrell, 72, of Little Rock, Arkansas passed away peacefully in his home on January 9, 2016. He was born November 12, 1943 in Arkansas to Florabelle and Jesse Cantrell.
James is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Rebecca; his sister, Mitzy Ross (John) of Fort Smith, Arkansas; 5 daughters: Parrish Whalen (Jim) of Cullman, Alabama; Jimmi Lynn Standley of Cullman, Alabama; Ginger Dohogne (John) of Stanton, Tennessee; Michelle Dorsey (Mark) of North Little Rock, Arkansas; and Rachelle Chism (Cary) of Sherwood, Arkansas. Other survivors include 7 grand-children: Stacey, Megan, Kayla, Kollin, Hannah, Ethan, and McKenna as well as 5 great grand-children: Edrick, Alena, Kayden, Zander, and Paxton (arriving soon) and 2 nieces.
He was a wonderful husband and father with a big heart who will be greatly missed. In addition to his children, he had a special place in his heart for James Goodwin and Eos de Feminis who resided in the family home during their teenage years.
James was an Industrial Asbestos Insulator before his retirement. He was a member of the Asbestos Workers Local No. 10 for 51 years. James was an avid Arkansas Razorback fan and loved all sports on TV. He could never pass up a good or bad western movie. In his earlier years, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and wood-working. He hand-crafted a special toy box for each one of his grandchildren. He will be missed beyond words by many other family members and close friends as well.
A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home at 1921 Main St. in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4:30-6:00 pm and a memorial service will follow at 6:00 pm. Burial will be private.
