James Caldwell

James Henry Caldwell died on March 17, 2011 at Twin Rivers Health and Rehabilitation Center in Arkadelphia following a lengthy illness. He was born August 22, 1920 in Malvern, Arkansas to Billy S. Caldwell and Mabel Baugh Caldwell. James was preceded in death by his lifetime partner and sweetheart Martha Galloway Caldwell, by two sisters, Frances McLean of Arkadelphia and Mary Kathryn Corn of North Little Rock and by a nephew, Billy S. Caldwell, III.
James served his country in the Army during World War II. He later served the community of Arkadelphia as a retail businessman first as manager of the Ben Franklin Store and later Caldwell's Collection, a gift and frame shop which he established and managed. He loved his family, he loved his church family where he was a deacon, a Sunday School teacher, a mentor to all. He loved people. To know James Caldwell was to love him back. He was kind and found good in everyone and everything he encountered.

Survivors include one brother, Bill S. Caldwell, II of Bismarck, a sister-in-law, Joy Peterson of Midland, Texas, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of loving friends. In addition to family, James requested that this article mention special friends who ministered to him through his illness including: Jane Lucas, Dr. Hal and Mitzi Bass, Louise Covington, Todd Lucas, the Dr. Scott Westberg family, Dr. Peggy Dorris, and Dr. Lee McGlone and staff and the entire First Baptist Church family whom he loved dearly, and the loving, caring personnel of Twin Rivers Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Private burial will be at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens by Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on March 28 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Arkadelphia. In lieu of flowers, James requested that memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church of Arkadelphia, 706 Pine Street or Group Living, Inc. , P. O. Box 159, Arkadelphia, 71923.
