James "Jim" Avants

Ret. Lt. Col. James “Jim” Avants, 89, of North Little Rock, Arkansas passed away December 5, 2022. He was born September 15, 1933 in North Little Rock, Arkansas to the late John and Floy (Bland) Avants.

He retired after more that 20 years in the Army and then went on to work at the Director of the Lighthouse for the Blind for many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading; he had many, many books. He also enjoyed classical music and old movies.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Betha; as well as the love of his life, his wife, Mycel House Avants. Jim is survived by his son, James Avants (Myong) of Waynesville, Missouri and his daughter, Catherine Beach of Cabot, Arkansas; grandchildren, John Avants (Danielle) and Laura Avants-Wyatt (Charlie); and great-grandchildren, Jackson, Dillen, Logan, Chloe, Olivia, Kylee and Emily.
