James A. Allen, II

Emblem

Jim Allen raised his family in North Little Rock, AR but referred to his retirement years in Mountain View, AR as “living the dream,” where he and his wife, Pat, spent over 20 years. Jim was born in Birmingham, AL, the son of Hall and Anna Allen.

He is survived by son, John Allen and his wife, Dale; daughter Ann Allen Denny; daughter-in-law, Mona Allen; grandchildren Holly Norwood (Kyle), Jimmy Allen, Rachel Gammill (Eric), Sara Bearden (Cody), Kristi Troxell (Dave), Charlie Allen, and Dru Denny (Maddie); and nine great grandchildren. He also leaves behind many friends from his years in North Little Rock, Mountain View, and at Parkstone Place.

He was preceded in death by his parents Hall and Anna Allen, sons, James P. Allen “Jim” and William Allen “Bill” and his wife of 61 years, Patricia McCain Allen.

Jim’s 92 years were filled with loving and providing for his family.  He instilled in them the value of commitment and faithfulness and the love of all things outdoors. He had a passion for traveling and was able to visit all 50 states. He leaves a written legacy of many short stories and memories for his family to treasure.

After graduating from Birmingham-Southern College in Alabama in 1954, Jim took the motto of New York Life “The Company You Keep” literally, as he spent his entire 42 year career with them.  Jim earned his CLU, Chartered Life Underwriter from the American College.  While with New York Life, he made life-long friends with his colleagues and counted it a privilege to serve his clients and their families.

The family would like to express their appreciation for all the ways Jim’s life has been remembered through your prayers, calls, texts, posts, etc. Memorials can be made in his honor as the family wishes to express their appreciation to Arkansas Hospice or while in Mountain View he was a dedicated member of the Ozark Society Foundation Board.
