James Marion "Jake" Adams died on June 8, 2011 at the age of 76. He was born to the late James Marion and Margaret Hargis Adams. He attended Little Rock public schools, graduating from Little Rock High School in 1952. He then graduated from the University of Arkansas where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. While serving in the Army Reserves, he attained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant.
At the age of 24, he embarked on a career in the insurance industry in Little Rock that spanned 51 years. He first worked for the firm of Campbell, Mallory, Colvert & Hornor and retired from Meadors, Adams & Lee in 2010. Jake was a former member of the Little Rock School Board, the Little Rock Planning Commission and a member of the committee that restored Curran Hall as the Little Rock Visitor Center.
Jake had a successful career in the insurance business, but his greatest success was in his close relationships with his family, dear friends, employees and business associates. He found great pride in his children and shared his joyous spirit with his six grandchildren. He was a person of deep compassion with a tremendous sense of humor who valued his lifelong friends.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joan Faucett Adams; his son, Jay (Jaimee) of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, daughter, Jan (Tannen) Hollenberg and son, Joe, all of Little Rock; sister, Constance Robertson and her daughter, Jane (Dale) Dunshie, all of Warren, Pennsylvania; and six grandchildren, Sophie Blue, Hannah Adams and Eliza Tannen Hollenberg, all of Little Rock, and James, Forest and Katherine Adams, all of Ft. Lauderdale. Also surviving are his brother-in-law, Joe (Mary Louise) Faucett and nieces and nephews, Randy Jones, Jeff Jones, Terri Cash, Jim Faucett, John Faucett, Judy Faucett and Jane Bass.
Services will be held on Saturday, June 11 at 10:00 a.m. at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Lynn Lindsey. Visitation will be Friday afternoon from 3-5 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.).
