James A. Turner, age 94 of Hickory Plains went to be with the Lord April 15, 2025. He was born on August 1, 1930, in Hickory Plains, Arkansas to James H. and Myrtle Turner.
He was a Veteran of the Korean War; retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and was a member of the Country Chapel. James loved to hunt, fish, hike, and coach youth baseball. He hiked the Grand Canyon three times with his kids and grandkids. James hiked and walked all over the United States logging over 25,000 miles. He and his wife Ruby traveled to all 50 States.
He is survived by his three children; Bonita (David) Cook of Austin; Donna (Gene) Martin of Jonesboro; Donald (Melissa) Turner of Kansas City, Missouri; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; and his brother, Doyne Turner of Hickory Plains.
James was preceded in death by his wife Ruby; son James Danny Turner; and three sisters; Gladys Putt, Ardath Rogers and Neicy Covington.
Visitation is planned for Friday, April 18th from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at the Smith Westbrook Funeral Home, 404 W Dewitt Henry, Beebe. Followed by the Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. and the burial at Hickory Plains Cemetery.
