Jacqualine “Jacqua” Ann Deguisne

Jacqualine “Jacqua” Ann Lamkin, Quesnel, Deguisne was born on 25 September 1941, passed away on February 17, 2022 at 80 years of age after a long, 2 ½ year battle with pancreatic/bile duct cancer.

Born in Torrance, CA, she was raised in Hawthorne, CA and as a young woman raised her children in Wilmington, CA where she lived for 23+ years. Before marriage, she worked at Northrup Corporation and after the children were in school, went to work at Mattel Toys/Mattel Electronics where she worked for 12 years. In November 1985, she moved to Phoenix, AZ where she decided to go to college and, with a declared major in English and minor in Music, received her Associate of General Studies Degree from Glendale Community College. She owned her own apparel shop, worked at an equine ranch, worked for Visions Unlimited and Honeywell. In December 2000, she moved to Arkansas and became a resident of the East End Community. This allowed her to be closer to two of her three children, the youngest was living in Wisconsin at that time. While living here, she worked for sixteen years at Arkansas Enterprises for the Developmentally Disabled (AEDD) and only retired when she became ill.

As a young girl she was a Girl Scout and had the privilege of being the Girl Scout leader for her daughter’s troop. She enjoyed six years of high school football and basketball games watching her sons play. Her greatest joy was found in her children and in her words, “My family is the single most important thing in my life.” Her hobbies, during the course of her life, were sewing, crocheting, knitting, embroidery work, roller skating, bicycle riding, fencing, playing the piano, playing the guitar and singing. She found great joy and comfort in driving (and perhaps driving those around her a little nuts) and, in AZ took up Square Dancing which she thoroughly enjoyed. Jacqua embraced the Lutheran religion and as a young woman taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and sang in the church choir.

Jacqua is preceeded in death by her loving Grandparents Euel and Rose Garver, her parents Walter E. and Marguerite Vilmann, her loving mate Dolfe Lee, Richard C. Lamkin, her loving grandson Packer Ty Deguisne and several extended cousins and family members.  Left to cherish her memory are her children Cathy (Steve) Graff of Cabot, AR, Dan (Dana) Deguisne of East End, AR and Terry (Mary Jo) Deguisne of Fuquay Varina, NC: Grandchildren Jennifer (Daniel) Alford, Jeremy (Jessica) Graff, Cassie Deguisne, Harley Deguisne, Hunter Deguisne, Ryan Collins, Alyssa Davis and Jacob Davis, sister Natelle Carlino, six great grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.

A memorial service celebrating Jacqua’s life will be held on Friday, February 25, 2022 at 10:00am at Shephard of the Hills Lutheran Church in North Little Rock.

In lieu of flowers Jacqua has requested donations be made to CARTI  Foundation, P.O Box 55011, Little Rock AR 72215.

“I did not die of COVID. I had stage 4 cancer. And from this day forward, I will not be voting democrat, nor did I ever.” With Love, Jacqua
