It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jackie Loretta Thompson, who left us on March 18, 2024, at Southern Trace. Jackie was born on October 27, 1940, in Vimy Ridge, Arkansas, and her presence touched the lives of many.
Jackie led a life filled with diverse interests and passions. She had a deep love for animals, both wild and domestic, often taking the time to feed creatures like foxes and raccoons. Her talent extended to leatherworking, and she took great delight in crafting intricate pieces. A dedicated fan of knowledge, she made it a point to watch Jeopardy daily at 4:30. Jackie's culinary skills were renowned among her loved ones; she was particularly famous for her incredibly delicious egg custard pies. Her vast collection of cookbooks and recipes stood as a testament to her culinary expertise.
Jackie will be dearly missed by her surviving family members: her son, James David Thompson, Jr., and his wife Tammy of Alexander, Arkansas; daughter Terri Penland and her husband Steve of Alexander, Arkansas; grandchildren Justin Thompson and wife Meghan, and Trevor Thompson; great-grandchildren Chassitie Shepherd and Tristan Thompson; brother Victor Barth of Fayetteville, Arkansas; cousins Phylis Sugg and Barbara Singley; and many family members and friends who love Jackie and will miss her always.
She is now reunited with her beloved husband, James David Thompson Sr.; her parents Walter Samuel and Eunice (Halpine) Barth; and sister Darlene Hogue.
A memorial service to honor Jackie's life will be held on March 22, 2024, starting at 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Smith Family Funeral Home Benton located at 322 N Market Street in Benton, Arkansas.
