Jack Tarr

Jack L. Tarr, age 88, of Searcy went to be with the Lord August 5, 2017. He was the only son of Fay Curtis and Ruth Paulene (Grose) Tarr. Jack was gritty, gutsy, and bold. He made his way through life with an unbridled determination. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. With the Lord at his side and Arlene, he blazed many a trail. Being a child during the depression gave him the hindsight to set goals and not waste time working toward them. Jack became a business owner and operator, several times over. He had a personality that wouldn't miss the chance to be a jokester. As a team, he and Arlene ventured into the orchard business for many years. They grew peaches, apples, grapes, and okra at their farm located off of Highway 5, near El Paso. When the retirement years came, he and Arlene bought an RV and went to work for the Arkansas State Parks by welcoming the visitors to their campsites. The last several years have been spent quietly together at The Harding Place in Searcy.
Jack is survived by his wife, Arlene; his four children, Mark James Tarr, Beverly Jean Tarr, Susan Jane Tarr and partner Susie, Linda Jo Phipps and husband Don, Jr.; two grandchildren Greg Tarr and Amy Westerberg and husband, Scott; cousins, Marcia Wist and her son, Troy Shore.
He is preceded in death by his parents and only sister, Beverly Jean Tarr.

Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Funeral will be 10:00 Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, with burial in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.
