Jack Tackett

Jack Tackett, age 89, of Glenwood, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2017. He was born on July 20, 1927 in Glenwood, the son of Jewell Tackett and Vida Pounds Tackett. On January 20, 1951, he was married to Juanita Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Sonny Tackett; and his sister, Mable Bean. In 1948, he began working for Arkansas Power & Light, now Entergy, and retired from that company in 1989. He also retired from the Glenwood Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the Glenwood First Baptist Church. He enjoyed woodworking and, along with Juanita's talent for painting, would sell their arts and crafts at many of the area festivals. He is survived by his wife, Juanita Tackett, of Glenwood; his son and daughter-in-law, Don and Cathy Tackett of Hot Springs; three grandchildren and their spouses, Alan and Rebecca Tackett, Autumn and Wes Jones and Alex Tackett; four great-grandchildren, Will Tackett, Jack Tackett, Josie Jones and Wylee Jones; and his nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, March 6, 2017, in the Glenwood First Baptist Church with Bro. Erby Burgess officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Glenwood Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be his nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Jack to the Glenwood First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 373, Glenwood, Arkansas, 71943.
