Jack M. Johnston, 70, died July 11, 2009, at his home in Little Rock after a long illness with Transverse Myletitis. He was born on September 11, 1938, in Buchanan, Michigan, the oldest of four children. He married Mardell A. Ivankovics of South Bend, Indiana.
Mr. Johnston is survived by his wife and four children, Robert and wife Melanie, Ronald, William, Andrea and husband Brett, and one granddaughter, Haley, all of Little Rock; his brother Mark Johnston and wife, Rhonda of Prescott, Arizona; his two sisters, Judith Campbell of Tempe, Arizona and Deborah Nowakowski and husband, Paul of South Bend, Indiana; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Mr. Johnston was preceded in death by his parents, Lorin and Dorothy Johnston of Scottsdale, Arizona.
He attended Purdue University, received a certificate from Notre Dame, was a Teacher of Banking from the National Banking Association and also graduated from the Scottsdale Culinary Institute as a chef.
Mr. Johnston began his career in banking at St. Joseph Bank in South Bend, Indiana. He relocated to Little Rock, Arkansas in 1980 and later to Phoenix, Arizona with Systematics. In 1994, he and his wife returned to Little Rock where he retired from Alltel Information Services in 2003.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, July 14 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. with the service following immediately at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Court (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), Little Rock. His family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Baptist Health Hospice in Little Rock or CareLink of Arkansas, Home Care Program in North Little Rock.
