Mr. J. D. Hammonds, age 84 of Gurdon died Thursday, June 28, 2007 at Twin Rivers Health & Rehab. He was born August 23, 1922 at Vaden, AR, the son of the late Jim and Nancy Langley Hammonds. He was retired from the Clark County Road Department, a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, and a member of the Oak Grove Church in the Hammonds Chapel Community. He was preceded in death by one son Richard Hammonds.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years Mamie McClure Hammonds, five sons Junior, Henry, and William Hammonds all of Gurdon, Louis Hammonds of Camden, and Don Hammonds of Alpina, AR, one daughter Cindy Hammonds Taylor of Texarkana, 22 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be 10 A.M. Saturday, June 30, 2007 in the Easley Cemetery with Brother Harry Stone officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. Friday at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia.
