J. C. "Jake" Whisenhunt

J. C. "Jake" Whisenhunt, age 74, Glenwood, died Wednesday, April 11, 2012. He was born on March 24, 1938, at Fancy Hill, the son of Cleve Whisenhunt, Sr. and Aronia Cogburn Whisenhunt. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Cleve Whisenhunt, Jr.; and his son, Eric Whisenhunt. He was a member of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod; a self-employed iron worker and a member of the Rock Creek Hunting Club. He had a great love and passion for family genealogy; and dearly loved his family and spending time with them. He is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, John and Lorna Whisenhunt of Belleville, Illinois and Christopher Whisenhunt of El Paso, Texas; two daughters and one son-in-law, Tammy and Darrell Duensing of Prairie Du Rocher, Illinois and Acquilla Corley of Lonsdale; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles Whisenhunt of St. Louis, Missouri; numerous nieces and newphews; and a host of friends. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 14, 2012, in the Fancy Hill Cemetery with Rev. Eric Wehunt officiating. Visitation will be held Friday evening, 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Matthew McClelland, Roy Lee O'Neal, Franklin Wehunt, Gene Cogburn, Windell Mann and Marlin Yarborough. Honorary pallbearers will be Dean Cogburn, Charlie Cogburn, Mark Cogburn, Shawn Cogburn, Trinity Cogburn, Zack Cogburn, Russell Mann, Trey Medina and Chris Trujillo.
