Ivene Marie Arivett

June 1, 1934 — January 15, 2023

Ivene Marie Arivett

Ivene Arivett, age 88, of Dover, Arkansas, formerly of Garland, Texas, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2023.

She was born on June 1, 1934, in Coleman, Oklahoma, the daughter of Johnnie Howard and Bonnie (Lattie) Howard.  On April 25, 1951, she was married to the true love of her life, Winnon Arivett, who preceded her in death on April 14, 2019.  She was also preceded in death by her parents; and two of her sisters; Shirley Arivett and Christine Crump.

She retired as a production supervisor from Varo Electronics in Garland, Texas in 1991 after 27 years of service.  Years earlier she endured picking beans in Oregon, apples in Washington, cotton in Oklahoma, Texas, and Arizona, cucumbers, blackberries, strawberries, peanuts, and tomatoes in Indiana.  Whether to help provide for her family or just doing something she loved, like painting anything that would stand still long enough to get at least one coat of paint, she embraced the challenge of achieving a job well done.

She and Winnon were long time members of New Heights Baptist Church in Wylie, Texas, serving as Sunday school teacher, children church leader, keenager leader, and choir member.  She loved reading her Bible and read it through countless times.  She was a talented song writer with over 300 songs and loved singing with life long friends, Joe & Hazel Carrol, forming the Garland Trio, which appeared on TV, radio, and various church and civic events.  She loved spending time with her family and was always eager to cook up a meal at a moments notice.  She loved playing Skip-Bo with Winnon, her friends, children, and grandchildren.  She dearly loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and that light shined so brightly to all those she would meet.

She is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Rebecca Arivett of Arlington, Texas, David and Julie Arivett of Round Rock, Texas, and Joel and Laurie Arivett of Dover, Arkansas; six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren (with one more on her way); two brothers, Quentin Howard of Texarkana, Arkansas and Leonard Howard of Umpire, Arkansas; and two sisters, Helen Arivett of Langley, Arkansas and Ella Black of Mount Ida, Arkansas; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
