Our mother, Irene Sims lived a full of energy life for most of her 90 years. Many things she had to endure could not keep her down and she was a rock for herself and everyone around her. She will be missed by her siblings for her fun loving energetic personality, high spirit, and talent in dancing and piano. She loved to sing, dance, and act as a child but mostly just play with friends and her very close family where she grew up in St. John’s NewFoundland Canada.
Irene had a long list of very talented carpenters, business owners, fishermen, and physicians. She remembers her mother feeding and helping many people in their home town and in the Salvation Army.
Her sister, Elizabeth “Betty” were very close, and talked every day as if they were just sitting next to each other. They didn’t have to have a reason to call each other but just to hang out on the phone. She missed her little brother Dave and wished they could have visited Arkansas more often or she fly to Toronto more times.
Her children will miss the devoted mother with the most unconditional love they have ever known, the conviction of strong family values, and lasting energy to help everyone around her. She had the sweetest personality and loved with acts of service for her family all day long. She may have tired but never would want to show it. Irene Sims will be deeply missed by all her family and friends leaving the world a better place because she touched so many with her kindness and love. She would always say when someone touched her heart that “they were golden” but the pure, genuine heart full of gold was hers.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. December 12, 2020 at Smith-North Little Rock Funeral Home.
State of AR COVID-19 directives: Mask required. Maintain social distancing.
