Irene Holleman Free, 96, of Rose Bud, Arkansas, saw the face of God, Saturday, November 07, 2009. She was born March 31, 1913, at Rose Bud, Arkansas, to the late Lee and Sophia Chaney Holleman. She is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-six years, Arda Free; three brothers, James Monroe, Clarence and Edward, and four sisters, Ava, Cordie, Valera and Lucy. She is survived by a sister, Vivian (O. B.) Wortham.
Irene was a caring, loving wife and mother of three daughters, Robbie (Charles) Goff of Searcy, Bobbye (Bernie) Swears of Carlisle and Ardena (Jerry) Ashmead of Rose Bud. She treasured her five grandchildren, Dianna, Jeffery, Michael (Betty) Goff, Blake (Torrie) Swears and Dena Michele (Mike) Thompson. Her five great-grandchildren were her greatest joy, Maggie Goff, Brittany and Caleb Swears, and Jake and Gracie Thompson.
Irene dedicated her life to serving God, her family, cooking, quilting, gardening and traveling.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 and funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 10, at Mt. Bethel Freewill Baptist Church with interment in Mt. Bethel Cemetery.
