Irena Shaffer

Irena Mae (Virginia) Kennedy Shaffer age 83 of Friendship died Thursday, October 30, 2008 in Hot Springs. She was born May 4, 1925 in Hale Center, Texas, the daughter of the late Ernest Lester and Myrtle May Horlacher Kennedy. Mrs. Shaffer was a former cosmetologist; she loved sewing, painting and cake decorating. She loved reading her Bible, spending time with the Lord, was a loving, humble soul and saw the good in everyone. She left a legacy for all who follow. She was the widow of Marion A. Shaffer and was preceded in death by one brother, Floyd Kennedy and one sister, Dorothy Sams.

Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Collins of Garland, TX, Harriett Babb and her husband, Bobby of Friendship, AR, one son Randall Shaffer, four grandchildren, Lesly Brown and her husband, Troy of Garland, TX, Lisa Babb of Rogers, AR, Buddy Babb and his wife, Jasa of Russellville, AR and Jodie Babb of Benton, AR, five great-grandchildren, three brothers, Lester Kennedy and his wife, Norma of Spring Lake, TX, Donald Kennedy of Jefferson, TX, Dennis Kennedy and his wife, Georgia of Ore City, TX, and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Sunday, November 2, 2008 at Neighbors Cemetery at Midway. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Saturday at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia.
