Irby Ray Hall, born November 4, 1931 in Yell County to James Carroll (Jim) and Norma Green Hall, passed away at Conway Regional Medical Center on August 16, 2014. He was a member of Second Baptist in Conway, Arkansas. Irby was a 1951 graduate of Dumas High School and served in the U. S. Navy from 1951 to 1955 in the Korean Conflict. He served aboard the U.S.S. Edmonds and received the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal and the Defense Service Medal. He attended the University of Houston from 1956 to 1961 then began his career with United Dollar Stores as Store Manager in Jackson, MS., and later returned to Arkansas to the United Dollar Stores Corporate offices in Dumas, Arkansas . Upon leaving United Dollar Stores he moved to Conway where he remained until his death. Irby was preceded in death by his parents, son, James Michael Hall and sister, Doris O’Rear. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Dena “Modena” Hall, sister, Grace Reed, and brothers, Royce Carroll Hall and Dale Hall. Also surviving are: son, John Milton Hall (Celeste) children-Hunter (Tara) & Rebecca; daughter, Shelly Rae Daws; granddaughter, Samantha Apel Hall, daughter of deceased son, Michael Hall; son, Michael Myrick – children, Rachel (Brady) Vinson, Jessica (Mike) Sims, and Jonathan (Krissi) Myrick; daughter, Lynnette Rook (Bob) – children Matt Brown (Katie), Katie Hahn, Carter Rook, Annie Rook and Taylor Brown. Great grandchildren, Erin and Everly Vinson, Aiden and Addilynn Myrick, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank Mrs. Louise George, and all his dedicated caregivers for over 5 years in his fight with Alzheimer’s disease, along with the dedicated workers in Brookridge Cove and Conway Healthcare and Rehab Nursing facilities, as well as his son-in-law, Dr. Bob Rook. The service will be at Griffin-Leggett Funeral Home on Dave Ward Drive in Conway at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 20, 2014. There will be visitation at the home of Mrs. Hall on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. Also, there will be visitation an hour before the service on Wednesday.
