Rev. Ira E. Williford, 89, of Sherwood went home to be with Jesus Saturday, June 13, 2009. He was born September 16, 1919 in Olmstead, Arkansas to the late George Andy and Fronie Belle Peters Williford. He was a Sherwood resident for the past 52 years, a charter member and deacon of New Life Assembly of God, and was pastor of Little Bethel Assembly of God and Eastside Assembly of God Church. He was a truck driver for Big Rock for 37 years and Garrett Vending Company for 4 years. Ira was a very easy going, loving family man and a friend to all.
He is survived by his wife, Margie Williford, of Sherwood; son, Ray Williford and wife, Norma, of North Little Rock; daughter, Joyce Henley and husband, Lawrence, of Jacksonville; sister, Sadie Langley; grandchildren, Cylinda, Denny, Monica, Daryl, Waymon, Cameron and Lorrie; nineteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and step-children; Shelby and Larry Pierce, both of Victorville, California,
Bill Pierce, of Prescott, Arizona, Katie Pierce Slone of Rialto, California, Kenny and Steve Pierce, both of Wilhoit, Arizona and Wayne Pierce, of Bowling Green, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mable Garrett Williford; brothers, Louie, Thurman, Zerbie, Jamie, Carroll and Virble Williford; and two sisters, Ruthie Pinkerton, Emogene Beard.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M., Wednesday at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Bayou Meto Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St. 758-1170. Online obituary and guest register at www.nlrfh.com.
