Ione S. Cooper, 95, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, April 22, 2014. She was born in Cove, Arkansas to Emmett E. and Mattie Chandler Smith. She worked in the banking industry for twenty years at First National Bank in Ft. Smith and at People's Bank and Trust in Russellville, from which she retired. She also enjoyed selling Avon products when they lived in central Missouri.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Troy D. Cooper, her sister, Charlene McGowan and her son-in-law, Dan Morris. She is survived by her daughter, Cathey Morris and grandchildren, Megan Morris and Joshua Morris, all of Little Rock; sister, Ruth Boal of Ft. Smith; nieces, Davie Lee Slates of Ft. Smith and Dickie Ann Johnson of Pennsylvania; sisters-in-law, Mildred Greathouse of Dover, Arkansas and Charlene Robbs of St. Louis, Missouri; and a host of other family and friends.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, April 28 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pinecrest Memorial Park Gazebo in Alexander. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 211 Natural Resources Dr., Little Rock, AR 72205.
