Ima Jean Fulton Deaton, age 85, passed from this life after a long battle with cancer, January 7 , 2016. Born September 3,1930 the 6th of seven children, to O.W. and Emma Jane Malone Fulton. Jean was a member of Third Street Baptist Church. She formerly worked with Ouachita Marine as a foreman and as a seamstress with Levi's Straus and Hollywood Vasserette all in Arkadelphia.

She was preceded in death by her parents and all her siblings: Cleo, Willard, and Eustus Fulton and Plorene Kaufman, Claris Helms, and Jane Dixon. Married on July 26, 1952, to James Ray Deaton Sr, they had five children. She was also preceded in death by her spouse of 50 years in October of 2002.

She was a housewife, mother and enjoyed yard work, her flowers, sewing, and cooking. Her homemade donuts being a favorite in the concession stand back when we kids played basketball.

Jean leaves behind 5 children and their spouses: Delores Deaton of Amity, Terry and Loail Sims of Arkadelphia, Brenda and Rick Falkowski of Amity, James and Cindy Deaton Jr. of Benton, and Keith Deaton of Amity; eight grandchildren, Shane (Pamela) Kuykendall, Chris (Dustie) Rice, Dustin (Laiken) Deaton, Bridgett (Dusty) Brantley, Kayla (Cody) Funderburk, Sarah Sims, David (Kristen) Sims and Catherine (Trace) Pee; eleven great-grandchildren; brother-in-laws, Joe Douglas Dixon, and Jeff Bill and Clara Deaton , sister-in-law, Leveda Lewis, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Memorial services will be held at 7:00 pm Friday, January 8th at the Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Gary Jennings officiating. The family will receive friends 6:00 pm until service. Interment of her cremated remains will be at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. In Lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the American Cancer Society.
