Hubert Dewayne Jones

Hubert Dewayne Jones, age 82, of Kirby, passed away on Friday, September 16, 2022.

He was born on August 3, 1940, in Daisy, the son of Clarence Jones and Irma Tedder Jones.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Virginia Hegler; his brother, Charles Jones; and his brother-in-law, Danny Jenkins.

Hubert was a member of the Daisy Free Will Baptist Church, a United States Air Force veteran and retired from many years of working in construction.  He loved running his dogs, spending time on his deer lease, hunting and fishing.  He always enjoyed visiting with his friends and telling all of his stories.  Hubert will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his son, Gary Dewayne Jones of Daisy; his two daughters, Vickie Jones Young and her husband, Joe of Wichita Falls, Texas and Kelly Smith and her husband, Fletcher of Milford, Massachusetts; his grandchildren and their spouses, Joshua Tyler Jones, Aubrey Madison and Curry Kunkel, Bryson Todd Oliver, Kevin Kyle Oliver and Lane and Jinney Smith; his great-grandchildren, Rust Kunkel and Iris Smith; his brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Bonnie Jones of Daisy; his sister, Gwen Jenkins of Glenwood; his sister-in-law, Charlotte Jones of Daisy; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, September 20, 2022, in the Daisy Free Will Baptist Church with Bro. Kevin Jewell officiating.

Visitation will be held Monday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, in the Smith Family Funeral Home in Glenwood.

Interment will be in the Mount Joy Cemetery in Daisy.

Pallbearers will be Larry Joe Mack, Michael Abshure, Matt Cook, Dustin Young, Eric Diggs and Dewight Reid.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Horn, Pete Fleming, Ronnie Epperson, Jeff Epperson and Eric Conners.
