Hughie Lambert

Hughie Norman Lambert, 87, of Hot Springs, AR, passed away peacefully on Friday,

January 26, 2024 at Arkansas Hospice of Hot Springs.

He was born on January 1, 1937, in Bonnerdale, AR to Lawson and Luda Lambert.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Leonard Lambert and sisters

Donia Housley and Loreta Saffell.

Hughie graduated from Amity High School in 1955 and continued to value his

friendships with his fellow classmates.

He proudly served for 9 years in the Arkansas Air National Guard.

Hughie began his professional career with Arkansas Power & Light in 1958 as a

lineman and went on to retire as a distribution supervisor with 38 years of dedicated

service to AP&L and later Entergy.

He was a charter member of Hot Springs Baptist Church where he held the honor of

Deacon Emeritus. He was a member of the church mowing team, a position he

enthusiastically performed as long as he was physically able.

Anyone who knew Hughie knew that his favorite place to be was the outdoors,

whether he was hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, traveling, or boating. Hughie

and his wife spent their retirement years traveling around the US and enjoyed

exploring national parks and scenic locations. He passed on this love of the

outdoors to his family.

Hughie is survived by his wife, Mary Frances, whom he loved and shared his life with

for 62 years. He is also survived by his son, Doug (Sherry) and his daughter Kelli

Gilbreath (Greg). His is also survived by five grandchildren: Jessica Lambert

Jones, Clay Lambert, Nathaniel Gilbreath, Kiri Grace Gilbreath, Evan Gilbreath and

one great-granddaughter Avery Jones. He is survived by sister Mildred Small of

Arkadelphia, AR and brother Ken Willard Lambert of Springtown, TX.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Deacon’s Benevolent Fund of Hot

Springs Baptist Church at 144 Weston Road, Hot Springs, AR 71913 or the charity of

your choice.

The family would like to extend its deepest gratitude for the caring staff at CHI and

Arkansas Hospice.

Memorial service will be announced for a later date.
