Hugh Demby

Hugh Demby, age 91, of Mount Ida, passed away on Friday, September 10, 2021.

He was born on August 3, 1930, in the Washita community of Montgomery County, the son of Clifford Demby and Marguerite Tidwell Demby. On October 21, 1955, he was married to Donna Bardwell Demby who preceded him in death on July 1, 2015. He was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, J. D. Demby and Cliff Dean Demby; and one sister, Aline Campbell.

He retired as Major in the United States Air Force where he served as a fighter pilot and as a combat pilot in Vietnam. After his military service, Mr. Demby was a realtor for Demby-McLane Realty in Mount Ida. He was a huge Razorback fan and enjoyed fishing and gardening.

He is survived by two daughters, Margaret Ann Demby of North Little Rock and Roberta Kay Demby of Hot Springs; one brother, Allen (Francis) Demby of Hot Springs; two sisters, Charlene Williams of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Margie (Kenneth) Bratton of Arkadelphia; his brother-in-law, Gerald (Dora) Bardwell of Huntingburg, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, September 14, 2021, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Bro. Jack Herring officiating.

Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Brett Bardwell, Paul Baker, Corbet Deary, Jimmy Abernathy, Melvin Thew, Troy Thew, Sammy Jones, L. J. Warneke and Kenny Bratton.

Honorary pallbearers will be Wally Metrejean, Cameron Bardwell, Joe Dale Simpson, Sam Amerson, Barry Spivey, Sam Thew, Brett Bratton and William Carstens.

Memorials may be made to the Bethel Cemetery Association, 65 Crews Road, Glenwood, Arkansas 71943.
