Chief Master Sergeant Hubert Wesley Burge went home to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, May 30, 2022. He was born January 22, 1936 in Malden, Missouri to Lawrence and Thelma Burge. He was known by many names – Hubert, Sonny, Bert, Chief, Burge . . . but his favorites were Dad and Papa. He loved his family more than life itself.
Mr. Burge spent forty-three years in the Air National Guard, but served as an active duty civilian until he literally couldn’t any longer. He loved his country.
He is preceded in death by his parents – Lawrence and Thelma Burge; and his sister, Florence (Dale) Lott.
He leaves behind his wife of sixty-five years, Rebecca Burge; his two daughters – Teresa (Glenn) Haley and Sandra (David) Moran; his four granddaughters – Jessica (Kyle) Simpson, Leah (Brent) Miller, Erika (Adam) Funmaker and Hannah (Matt) Leonard; eleven great-grandchildren – Taylor and Kane Simpson, Gabriel, Caroline, Audrey and Grayson Miller, Olivia, Elliott and Adam Funmaker and Cora and Aria Leonard. He also had a slew of nieces, nephews, family and friends that meant the world to him. These people were the heart and soul of this man!
Funeral services will be held at the Smith Westbrook Funeral Home Chapel in Beebe, Friday, June 3rd at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be Monday, June 6th at 11:00 a.m. at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery.
