Hoy Elton Furr

Hoy Elton Furr age 90, of Arkadelphia, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2023 at his home. He was born October 3, 1932 to the late James Earl and Eula Fisher Furr. Hoy was the oldest living member of Friendship Methodist Church where he was the architect and helped build the new church.

He retired from Reynolds Metal Co. as a Design Engineer and Draftsman. Hoy was an avid Indian Artifacts collector. At one time he and his brother, Wilton had their collection in two different museums. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of the Korean War Era.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Roberts Furr; two brothers, James Furr and Russell Furr and one sister, Bobbie Rischell.

Survivors are three daughters, Kathy (Larry) Welch and Becky (Dennis) Hughes both of Friendship, Angie (Bill) Morris of Alpharetta, Georgia; nine grandchildren, Charidy, Mandy, Shane, Shanda, Tiffany, Justin, Kylie, Chase and Ansley; nine great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren; one sister, Venette Burnett of Friendship; and two brothers, Wilton Furr of Friendship, Arkansas and Wayne Furr of Malaga, Ohio.

Visitation will be 6-8 PM Friday, February 24^th at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia.

Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, February 25^th at Friendship Methodist Church with Dwayne Smith and Mickey Shaffer officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Gilchrist Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Justin Hughes, Chase Morris, Matthew McCool, Greg Parish, Shaun Furr and Shae Furr. Honorary pallbearer is David McDaniel.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to Hospice Home Care of Hot Springs for their excellent care.

Hoy’s daughters will receive friends and family for food and fellowship at Hoy’s home in Arkadelphia after the service.
