Howell Steele

Howell "H.A." Steele, 85, of Benton, Arkansas passed away on January 15, 2014 at his residence. He was born in Benton, AR on March 28, 1928 to the late H.A. Steele, Sr. and Pearl Buffington Steele. H.A. retired as President of the Hurricane Creek Federal Credit Union in October 2013. He also retired from Reynolds and served as a postal carrier in the United States Postal Service. H.A. served on the Board of Directors at Saline Memorial Hospital from 1970 to 1978. He was a member of the Optimist Club and Razorback Club. H.A. enjoyed spending time fishing, welding, working on shop projects and playing card games. H.A. proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean and Vietnam wars.
H.A. is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Patsy J. Smith Steele of Benton, AR; three sons, Scott R. and wife Glynis Steele of Decatur, AL, Mark P. and wife Christy Steele of Lonsdale, AR, Dane W. and wife Jerri Steele of San Antonio, TX; seven grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Eulan Naylor of Little Rock; and caregiver, Joyce Brothers.
H.A. is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mickey Naylor and Harriet Beard.
Graveside service will be Saturday, January 18th, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at Pinecrest Memorial Park officiated by Rev. Kim Hammer and Rev. Jim Gardner. Pallbearers are Lewis Greer, Ross Reeves, Jackie Homan, Charles Burks, Bob Wise and Melvin Wylie. Honorary Pallbearers are the Board Members of Hurricane Creek Federal Credit Union.
