Howard Stanley Wells, 80, of North Little Rock passed away Monday, August 25, 2014. He was born in Amite, LA on Jan. 26, 1934, served in the U.S. Air Force and retired from Union Pacific Railroad. Howard never met a stranger, many of which became lifelong friends. He enjoyed square dancing for over 35 years with the love of his life, Joyce. He adored his family, multitude of friends and he will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joyce Wells; daughter, Cindi Wells Thessing of North Little Rock; step-daughters, Anita Nevens (Bob) of Brentwood, Tennessee, Tommie Butler of North Little Rock; step-son, William Ross (Phyllis) of Paron; six grandchildren, Dr. Jeffrey and Courtney Thessing of Little Rock, Steven and Michael Nevens of Nashville, Tennessee, Bobby Nevens (Chelsea) of Houston, Texas, Paul Denton (Kathryn) of Bossier City, Louisiana; five great-grandchildren; brother, Willie Wells (Arlene), sisters, JoAnn Miller (Bruce), Nancy Lobot (Gerard) all of Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bailey Wells, Emma Casanova Wells Sanspree and her husband, Huey; son, Howard Stanley Wells, Jr.; sisters Mary Wells, Thelma Ellender and brother, George Wells.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice, 14 Parkstone Circle, North Little Rock, AR 72116.
Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday at Smith - North Little Rock Funeral Home. Burial will be in Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. Online obituary at www.SmithFamilyCares.com .
