Howard G. Brucker, of North Little Rock, a Veteran of The Army Air Corps 504th BG, 421st BS, went to be with the Lord on July 24th 2009 at the age of 91. Howard piloted B-17/B-29 bombers during WWII from Tinian Island in the South Pacific. He flew more that 29 missions during his time in the service, in which more than half, Howard landed his highly damaged and un-repairable Bombers safely and without injury to his crew. For going above and beyond the call of duty and uncommon heroics, Howard was awarded The Air Medal, The Bronze Star, and the Distinguished Flying Cross and The Presidential Unit Citation. The 504th was awarded the citation for being the only Bomb Group in the world to have ever dropped an Atomic Bomb. He rose to the rank of 1st lieutenant after serving as a sergeant in the Army Air Corp. Howard led a peaceful and simple life after his piece of the war, as a devoted husband, caring father, and kind grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elizabeth Ann ?Libby? Brucker; daughter, Joanne L Ellison and husband, Dwain, all of North Little Rock; grandchildren, Anndra J. Ellison and Darrin D. Ellison; and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; one brother and his daughter.
