Houston Whitfield, 96, of North Little Rock died Tuesday, May 22, 2007. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona. He is survived by his daughter, Carolyn Whitfield Barron; son-in-law, Thomas Barron; four grandchildren, Michael (Cindy) Barron, Elizabeth (Dallas) Stricklin, John (Cathy) Barron, and Melody (Mike) McBride; eight great grandchildren, Andrea (George) Heintzen, Morgan Barron, Alicia Barron, Joshua Stricklin, Joseph Stricklin, Jonathan Stricklin, Jessica (Nathan) Pauley and Carly McBride; and two great-great-grandchildren, Cameron Stricklin and Gavin Pauley.
He was a chef by profession and spent his life serving in the Navy during World War II and serving veterans until he retired from the VA Medical Center with over 50 years of service. His enjoyment in life was dancing at the Hays Senior Citizens Center.

A Catholic Mass of Christian burial will be held 2:00 P.M., Thursday at St. Anne Catholic Church with burial at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
