Horace Marvin White, 97, of Ferndale died Saturday, September 5, 2009 at his home.
Marvin was born June 19, 1912 to Horace Josiah White and Bertha Louellen Demaris Grimmett. He retired from Pulaski County Road and Bridge after 21 years of service. He was an expert gardner and storyteller.
Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter and a great grandson, Lee; and sisters; Erma Gray and Hazel McGrew. Survivors include three sons, H.D. White (Barbara) of Ferndale; Owen R. White (Carron) of Ferndale; Bill White (Alice) of Ferndale; two daughters, Ellen Moore (Harold) of Bigelow and Marva Heard (Russell) of Little Rock; sister Alma Gathright; stepbrother Charles Bridges; 17 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; 19 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and a great host of friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Ferndale with Bro. Kevin Bryant officiating.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 8, 2009 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Huson Funeral Home Chapel, 6400 Mabelvale Pike Little Rock, Arkansas 72209.
Food items will be accepted at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
