Homer E. Buck, 86, of Benton, AR passed away on October 7, 2023. Homer was born on December 21, 1936, to Claude E. Buck and Marrie Shelley Hamlin in Little Rock, AR. After graduating from Fuller High School in 1955, he worked several years at the bicycle plant in Little Rock.
After graduating from electrical apprenticeship school in 1964, where he received the Outstanding Apprentice Award, he went on to become a Master Electrician. Homer was a member of the IBEW Local 295 for over 60 years where he made lifelong friends: Mike Benton, Lauren Ray Ross, Dick Melton, Ralph Edwards, and Royce Stewart. He taught at the electrical apprenticeship school for a number of years. In his younger years, he served in the Army National Guard from 1954-1962. He also served on the Cornerstone church board, acting as church treasurer for 12 years.
In 1957, Homer married Helen Carol (Thompson) Buck. They were married for over 66 years, an accomplishment of which he was proud, and together, they raised three daughters.
In 1999, Homer retired and spent his time with his grandchildren, reading, studying genealogy, and volunteering at the Cornerstone Church of the Nazarene food pantry.
Homer is survived by his wife, Helen Carol Buck; daughters, Denise (JFrank) Crabb, Lori (Tommy) Richard, and Donna (Ronnie) Roberts; grandchildren, Nathan (Jennifer) Richard, Rachel (Paul) Doramus, Zach (Andi) Richard, Clay (Morgan) Roberts, and Matt (Gretchen) Larkan; great-grandchildren, Cass and Cole Richard; Shepherd and Sophie Doramus; Josephine and Lucinda Richard; Gavyn, Blakely, Saylor and Oaklyn Roberts; and Laine Larkan; and his sister-in-law, Shirley Thompson.
Homer was predeceased by his parents; brother, Houston Buck; sisters, Claudette Hart and Gladys Selzenoff; brother-in-laws, Jim Thompson and Don (Carolyn) Thompson.
Services will be held at Cornerstone Church of the Nazarene, 25799 I-30, Bryant, AR, at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 14, 2023, led by Pastor Tim Evans. Visitation with the family will be at 10:00 AM prior to the service at the church. Smith Funeral Home in Benton, AR is in charge of the service arrangements. A private family interment will be on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Forest Hills cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Cornerstone Church of the Nazarene Food Pantry.
Homer lived a life of service to the Lord. His family is honored to have had him as a husband, Dad, and Papaw. He led a full life, well-lived.
