Herschel H. Carter, age 93, of Little Rock, passed away Sunday, May 23rd.
A memorial service will be held graveside at Elmwood Cemetery at Willow and North Division in Blytheville, Arkansas on Thursday, May 27th at 2:00 pm.

He is survived by:

Granddaughter: Ashley Carter Roach and husband, Nick, of Little Rock
Grandson: Christopher T. Carter and wife, Jessica (with child, Paisley Annabelle), of Maumelle, Arkansas
Sister: La Verne Rippey of Fairfield, California
Brother: Don Carter of Ellenwood, Georgia
Brother-in-Law: William T. Reynolds of Tulsa, Oklahoma
Sister-in-Law: Helen Carter of Little Rock, Arkansas
Sister-in-Law: Katie Pickett of Camden, Arkansas
Brother-in-Law: Pat Harrison of Brinkley, Arkansas
Sister-in-Law: Floyce Harrison of Blytheville, Arkansas

Sister-in-Law: Lonnie Craft of Jonesboro, Arkansas
A veteran of WWII, Mr. Carter served in the Army Air Corp as a B-24 navigator with Squadron 706, Bomb Group 445th, Bungay, England. His aircraft was shot down on his 16th mission near Berlin Germany and he was held as a prisoner of war in Stalag Luft 1, Barth, Germany, for 14 months until he was liberated by Russian troops.
He worked with the Agricultural Extension Service as a County Agent from 1952 through 1978 in Mississippi County, Clay County and Poinsett County, Arkansas.
Mr. Carter's greatest accomplishments were his love for his family, his constant concern and loyalty for his friends and his kindness toward everyone he met. Heaven is receiving a truly sweet and gentle man.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donation be made to Grace Presbyterian Church of Little Rock, where he was a member, or to a charitable organization of the donor's choice.
