Herbert Moore

Herbert Carl Moore of Beebe, Arkansas, formally of Star City passed away on November 29, 2014. He was born September 21, 1943 in Douglas, Arizona to Bertha Barnum Moore and Robert Wilburn Whorton.

He served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1964. He was medically discharged due to an injury during the Vietnam War.

He married Betty White on October 3, 1962.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jimmy Smith and Henry "Bud" Abernathy, both of Brownwood, Texas; two brothers-in-law, Randall Coats of Tomball, Texas and Billy Ray White of Moro Bay, Arkansas.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Moore of Beebe, Arkansas; and children, Stan Moore (Sonya), of Beebe, Arkansas, Kelly Moore (Tammie) of Rison, Arkansas, Melissa Harrison and Tina Brown of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; Four brothers, Donald Smith of Adrian, Michigan, Herman Smith of Brownwood, Texas, Wilburn Whorton of Lorena, Texas, Warren Whorton of Rockdale, Texas; Six sisters, Linda Abernathy of Brownwood, Texas, Loretta Smith of Austin, Texas, Greta McCorkle of Democrat, Texas, Jeannie Smith and Georgetta Jones of Abilene, Texas, and Donna Smith of Georgia; Ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews whom he loved very much.

A Memorial Service will be held in his honor at Griffin Funeral Service in Star City, Arkansas, Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 2 p.m. The family will be at 13470 Highway 63 in Rison, Arkansas. Cremation arrangements by Smith - Westbrook Funeral Home. www.smithfamilycares.com
