Herbert Andrew Jackson, 87, of Little Rock, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2008. He served in World War II as a Sonarman Third Class in the U.S. Navy. He retired from the Little Rock Fire Department as Fire Chief in 1968 and from Longbell International Paper Company in the 1970's. Herbert was a skilled carpenter, the best cabinet maker in the state and was known as the "saint of paint."
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Juanita Terry Jackson; daughters, Charlene, Sandra and Francine; step-daughters, Joyce Etheredge and Mary Wagner; a sister, Grace Tipton; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today, Tuesday, June 10 from 4-6 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), Little Rock. Graveside Services will be held Wednesday, June 11 at 10:00 a.m. at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock, officiated by Rev. Elton Cole.
