Henry Sneddon

Henry George Sneddon, 84, of North Little Rock, died on Friday, December 1, 2006. He was born December 20, 1921 to the late Clarence H. Sneddon and Blanche Jungkurth Sneddon in Pottsville, Pennsylvania.
Henry had a keen interest in everything mechanical, and he learned to fly while still a teenager. He quit his second year of college to join the Royal Air Force Arm in Canada prior to the United States? entry into World War II. His duties included flying planes to Great Britain for use in the war. After the United States entered the war, he turned down an offer of British citizenship and a spot in the Royal Air Force, and instead joined the U.S. Army Air Corp. He served as a flight officer, training glider pilots in Lubbock, Texas, and flying gliders himself in Europe.
He met his future wife, Helen LaNell Thomas of Morrilton, Arkansas, in Lubbock, Texas, and after their marriage and the end of the war, the couple moved to Arkansas. He then resumed his scholastic interests in architecture and engineering, and began a lifelong career in the construction and roofing industry. He held management positions at Alcoa and Garrison Company before starting his own consulting company. He worked for many years as a consultant for Arkansas State Building Services.
During the 1950s he also served his community by being elected marshal of Cammack Village.
He continued to fly after the war. He, along with his ?flying buddies?, owned and flew private planes they housed at the North Little Rock Airport.
Henry is preceded in death by his wife, Helen LaNell Thomas Sneddon. He is survived by a daughter, Emily Sneddon of Maumelle; son, Larry Sneddon and wife

Sarah of Newtown Square, Pennsylvania; grandson, Steven Sneddon of New York City, New York; nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
