Henry Scales

Henry Lee Scales, 60, of Beebe, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord as he was surrounded by his family on Tuesday, October 5, 2010. He was born October 25, 1949 in Nashville, Tennessee to Thomas and Naomi Scales. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. During his tour of duty at Little Rock Air Force Base, he met the love of his life, Cynthia Carpenter. They were married in 1973. This marriage was blessed with three children. He retired from Arkla Gas after twenty-five years of service. The remaining years of his career were at National Home Center. He was a member of the Beebe First United Methodist Church and also served as a lay speaker to local surrounding churches.
He is survived by his loving wife of thirty-seven years, Cynthia; two sons, Nathan and wife Beth of Cabot, Aaron and wife Amy of Lonoke; and daughter Alice Mairee and husband Jimmy Don Page of Cabot. He was blessed with three wonderful grandchildren, Luke, Ethan and Emma Scales. His children and grandchildren were his proudest achievement. He is also survived by his mother, Naomi Scales of Beebe; two sisters, Rita Scales of Norcross, Georgia and Carolyn and husband Steve Beasley of Antioch, Tennessee; his in-laws, Bill and Gladys Carpenter of Beebe; brother-in-law Jon Tracy Carpenter and wife Jody of Murray, Kentucky; sister-in-law Cindy Carpenter of Searcy; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Scales and brother-in-law, Todd Carpenter.
Henry taught his children the right way to live by the example of his life. He put God first by loving and respecting his family and other people.
Special thanks to the nurses of the UAMS Intensive Care unit and to Dr. Aduli for the special care provided to Henry and his family.
