Henry E. Anders, 79, died Monday August 30,, 2010. He is survived by his wife, Karen, and son, David (Amanda), sons by a former marriage, Rick (Sharron), and Tom, four grand children, a great-granddaughter, a sister, Mary Virginia Stephen, and a brother, Roy Koplan. He is preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Koplan and his aunt, Annigrey Marshall.
Born in Detroit, Henry lived most of his life in Arkansas, graduating from North Little Rock High School in 1948, and serving with the Marines during the Korean Conflict, where he worked on some of the earliest computer data bases. That experience, along with previous work on early IBM equipment at Goff Wholesale, led him to a job at Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield, then a small company of about 50 people. Forty-one years later he retired as Senior Systems Analyst/Programmer. He also served on the credit union board, now Telco, and was active in church affairs such as Choir Director at the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Little Rock.
Henry will always be remembered for having a cup of coffee at hand and a smile on his face. He enjoyed family get-togethers, visiting with friends, singing, and Razorback games.
Funeral service will be 9:00 A.M. Thursday at Huson Funeral Home, 7700 Highway 107, Sherwood will be at 11:30 a.m. at Rest Hills Memorial Park in North Little Rock. Memorials may be made to Sherwood Cumberland Presbyterian Church or Arkansas Hospice. Sign the online guestbook at
