Helen Nugent, formerly Sr. Margaret James, SCN, was born in Cleveland, OH, on February 21, 1927. She passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2021. Helen was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church of Little Rock, AR since 1982. She was active for many years with the Honduras Mission, several other church ministries and community volunteer work. After a career as a dietician, she obtained her Master’s degree and worked as a psychiatrist social worker. Before her retirement in 1990, she spent several years working with families at the Child Study Center of UAMS. Helen was known by her friends and family for her thoughtfulness, generosity of spirit, Scrabble skills, and love for dogs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret (nee O’Donnoll) and James Nugent; and her sisters, Mary “Betty” Seitz, Margaret “Peggy” Stroh, and brother James “Jimmy” Nugent, and nephew Mark Stroh. She is survived by eight nephews, nieces and their families.
A memorial mass will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church, 4000 N. Rodney Parham, Little Rock, on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at 10:00 am. The family requests use of face masks in the church. The mass will be live streamed on Christ the King Catholic Church’s YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFLCQF2okEX6gKbKLOoGPiA .
Donations may be made to Farm of the Child ( farmofthechild.org ) in lieu of flowers.
