Louise Green, age 84, joined her Savior on Tuesday, October 7, 2008. She was born September 2, 1924 in Hiram, Arkansas to the late S. C. and Connie Sandefur Jackson. Preceding her in death were her parents, son, Gordon Allan Green, and two sisters, Edith Johnson and Doris Brantley. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Gordon Green; daughter, Sheila Somers and husband, Jim Somers and son, Kent Green. Also surviving are grandchildren, Donavon Somers (Laura), Shelleen Bowman (Scott), Amanda Green and Taylor Green; and great-grandchildren, Colton Bowman, Mackenzie Bowman, Emma Somers and Sophie Somers.
Louise devoted her life to her family, her Lord and Savior. She is a member of the New Hope Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed teaching the children in Sunday School, which she did for about 40 years. The kids always enjoyed being a part of her class, as she tried to always have something going for them. There were ball games, trips to the zoo, trips to nearby cities and wiener roasts. Then, at times, she would cut the lesson a little short and have kool aid and treats. The children loved her and seemed to enjoy being a part of her Sunday School Class.
Louise was a Grandmother who liked to prepare for each Grandchild and Great-Grandchild before they were born. She insisted on having a rocking chair in perfect working order, plenty of extra clothing and toys for them. She loved each one of them very dearly and will be waiting in heaven for them. Another of Louise's joys was as a teaching leader in the Women's Bible Study Group. She spent many hours of study in preparation. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, gardening and singing gospel music.
Probably her greatest joy was her family. She was a loving, caring, devoted dear mother, always there when she was needed, and making sure we attended church. She made sure all her children learned the skills of life to take care of themselves. If you talked to her for any length of time, you would soon be invited to church or be told about the Lord. Proverbs 31: 10-31 is a good description of Louise's life. She will be greatly missed by family and a multitude of friends. We wish to thank all the many family, friends, care givers and hospice, who helped us make it through this very difficult time.
