Helen Gray

Helen Ruth Gray, born March 10, 1921, passed away peacefully on June 20th, 2011 surrounded by the love of her family. Born to Lacey and Grace Cochrane in Concord, North Carolina, she was the oldest of four children. She married William Leslie Gray on November 12th, 1941 and became a military wife, living around the country and in Germany and Libya before settling in North Little Rock in 1973. As her six children were growing up, Helen spent many years involved in activities such as scouting, Rainbow Girls, and DeMolay. She loved reading, crafts, oil painting and gardening, was active in her church and Eastern Star for many years, and because she loved to learn, she attended over fifty Elderhostles in Canada, Scotland, Alaska, Hawaii, and all over the continental US. Helen was preceded in death by her husband and her son Bill. She is survived by her children Roslyn Noble of Carmel IN, Jean Bledsoe & her husband Bryan of Post Falls ID, Helen "Mimi" Marie Gray and her partner Hal Westcott of Plympton MA, Robert Gray and his wife Garrett of Little Rock, and Beth Asquith and her partner David Benson of North Little Rock, grandchildren Heather Bacher and her husband Bruce, Glenn Chunn and his wife Rachel, Shannon Bledsoe and her husband Youcef Iouknane, Bob Bledsoe, Ariel and Marlee Asquith, and Leslie Gray, and great-grandchildren Justin, Ryan, and Brandon Bledsoe, Adam Iouknane, and Elspeth and Vanessa Bacher. She is also survived by her sisters Jean Furr and Marie Kellough, brother Ray Cochrane and sister-in-law Mary, many nieces and nephews and all of the "grandpups". By Helen's request, a memorial party with "dancing on the tables" will be planned at a later date to celebrate her remarkable life.
