Helen Bledsoe

Helen Bledsoe, 96, went to Heaven on Sunday, February 9, 2020 to be with her mother and father, Jennie and John Peeler; her husband, Howard G. Bledsoe; her daughter, Vernice Hatchett; her brothers, Glenn and Herschel; her sister, Hazel; and her great-grandson, Kyler McIntyre.

She is survived by her daughter, Delorse Richards; grandchildren Sarah (Shawn) Milligan, John H. Richards, Stephanie (Vernon) Cloos, Aimee (Jon) Robertson and Jennie (Brian) Dale; great-grandchildren Amanda (Jessie) Ivey, Hallie (Sean) Henderson, James (Jordan) Snellgrove, Delaney Robertson, Elayna and Dasha Milligan, Jaxon Dale and Rhett Cloos; great-great-grandchildren Jethro, Ethan, Jonathan and Elijah Ivey and Gunner Snellgrove; her many quilting buddies; and her loyal companion, Buttons.

She was known around Little Rock as Ms. Helen, the smiling cashier at Luby’s Cafeteria, where she worked until she was 89. Her quick wit, resilient spirit and delicious Southern cooking left an impression on all who knew her. She treated everyone she met like family, and she loved her family more than anything. She built a life for herself and her family that was full of strength, perseverance and grace. She was funny, independent and full of love. She will be remembered as the sweetest lady in the world. She died peacefully and in love of God. She will be immeasurably missed.

Visitation: 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at Smith – North Little Rock Funeral Home. Funeral services: 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Arkansas Memorial Gardens.
