Hazel Manning

On September 1, 2018 Hazel Inez Manning, age 88, took the hand of the Lord and was led to her heavenly home.

At age 84, Inez was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. When faced with this diagnosis she met the challenge with grace and determination announcing it as her new journey and expressed how lucky she was that had the disease late in life. As typical Inez sought to see the best of the situation and continue to be the best she could be. With time, Alzheimer's won. Although she could no longer enjoy her lifelong passion of reading or watch favorite TV programs, Inez continued to have a smile for a funny story and enjoyed eating a piece of chocolate, listening to music and wearing comfy clothes. Her standing beauty appointments with Ms. Nita continued as long as possible as any southern woman of Inez's age knows the hair has to be done. Weekly visits from Ms. Edna, her companion and friend, were a source of inspiration to her as they talked about the bible and discussed life lessons which allowed Inez to continue to worship in her faith and "attend" church. Through 24/7 live in care not only were Inez's physical needs met but more importantly a true friendship evolved with her granddaughter by marriage, Lisa.

Ines worked many years at area sewing factories but her priority was always her home. She took great pride in keeping a clean house, having a home cooked meal on the table and taking care of her husband and children. Inez truly was a loyal and loving wife and a dedicated, adoring mother. She was our rock.

Inez is preceded in death by her parents, Duey and Leona Ham Ledbetter; her husband, Wilbert Manning; grandson, Leslie Manning; son-in-law, Paul Evans; sister, Evangeline Bailey as well as brothers-in-law, Clayton Strother and F. Z. "Doc" Bailey.

Inez is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Tom Fritz, daughter, Treva Evans; son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Janice Manning; grandsons, Robert and James Ezell, Todd Manning, Bobby Mertink and granddaughters, Michelle Williams and Tammy McWhirter; great-grandchildren, Sarah Beth Eades, Hunter Ezell, Rebecca Carter, Scott Ezell, Jacob, James, Justin, Tyler and Seth Williams, Chelsea and Bradley Manning, Jessica and Justin McWhirter; great-great grandsons, Easton and Rylan; sisters, Orbazine Strother and Carolyn Pennington; brother-in-law, James Pennington as well as multiple nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will 6:00 - 9:00 PM Wednesday, September 5th at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home. Service will be 1:00 PM Thursday, September 6th at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Richwoods Cemetery.

While Inez loved beautiful plants and flowers her passion was reading. Therefore the family asks in her memory donations be made for either children's books or large print for visually impaired adults through the Clark County Public Library in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
