Hayden Powell "Joe" Davis, 78, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, went to be with the Lord Dec. 27, 2007 in Conway, Arkansas. He was born Oct. 2, 1929 in Pulaski County, Arkansas.
His legacy will live on through the many people whose lives he touched and his life is celebrated by a host of friends and family. He was a man of character and integrity, a loyal friend, an extremely hard worker, and a dedicated caregiver. He loved his family more than words can say.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Alexander Davis II and Lillian Eva Norman Davis; his wife of 43 years, Edna Lucille Diehl Davis; and two brothers, Terrell Davis and Norman Davis of Benton.
Survivors include his wife of 9 years, Melba Jo Davis; three sons: Joe Davis (Diane) of Ft. Smith, Norman Davis of Conway, Gary Davis (Lisa) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; one daughter, Patricia "Patti" Davis McGill (Russell) of Rogers; four stepchildren: Michelle Redmond (Skip), Laurie Wicktora (Mark), Matthew McHendry (Kathy), and Andrea Callicott (Steve); 19 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; one sister, Kathryn Milks of Benton; four brothers: Jeff Davis (Jean) of Benton, Doyle Davis (Louise) of Marietta, Georgia, John A. "Jack" Davis III (Jessica) of Little Rock, Robert "Bob" Davis (Nancy) of Benton.
He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Past Grand Master MW Grand Lodge F&AM of Arkansas in 1989; a member of Mary Williams Lodge (formerly Westwood Masonic Lodge #353); Past Worthy Patron, Jennie B. Hopkins #79 Order of Eastern Star; 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason; Past Treasurer Scimitar Shrine Temple; Royal Order of the Jesters; former member of the Shrine Flying Fez Unit; Bendemeer Grotto, Royal Order of Scotland, National Sojourners, Royal Arch Mason; Knights Templar; former member of Gideons International; and Retired Captain of Civil Air Patrol.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 29 at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Court (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), with burial at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
